I am going on a 12 ride to Neb then SD.  My question is about hay cubes or feed with forage.  Does anybody have any advice on either?  I worry more about giving them something to do than nutrition value.  You know how horses can get into trouble and hay not only help with nutrition but also something to do.

I like the cubes because they usually meet the Forest Service Weed Free certification  It is easier than trying to find bales that are certified. All Public land here in the west now requires certified feed. Forest Service, BLM or State lands.

When I pack in and haul some cubes in with me. They don't get lost in the dirt as easy as the pellets. The horses waste less.

Like all feed changes, start them on the cubes a few days early.

I also use cubes when I pack in the mountains of Alaska. They keep them busy and in less of trouble. I also use depending on where I am some weight builder its normaly easy to put in lil bags and a little goes a long way for the real long hard trips. Have a great trip!
