Hi All:
Thinking of camping in Central Oregon, Bend, La Pine area. Anyone been to Chief Paulina Horse Camp? Hear that it is nice with a lake, nice trails, showers, store etc........................Would like your comments on other horse campsites in Oregon that you have tried. We have been to some in the Sisters area and the beach areas, which were very nice riding.

Hope this will answer some questions about our horse camp. It is located in Newberry National Volcanic Monument about 30 miles from Bend, Or.
It is an older camp, but has sights that will accomodate larger rigs. There are 14 units. 4 are 4 horse stalls and the rest have only 2 stalls. All spaces have a table and fire pit along with the stalls. There are 2 bathrooms. One is an older outhouse and the other is a new concrete enclosed vault toilet. Water is provided for the horses, but potable water for human consumption needs to be brought or you can fill up at our dump and water station located by the visitor center. Lots of wonderful trails. The crater rim trail is 20 miles, but can be broken up to make several shorter rides. Peter Skein Ogden trail along Paulina Creek is a favorite for a lot of riders. We do still have snow here so it may be a while, but it is usually pretty clear by the first of July and is great riding into Oct..
A new camp has opened up at Northrup creek in Clatsop County I have been there and it is real nice.
