cimmeron norstar... we were discussing on this site about the problems with cimmerons roof recall... i stated that i was trying to work with them on the issue and would get back to the site when outcome is made... the outcome is they are only willing to produce the trailers and sell them and make money but good luck if you happen to have one with problems... to bad good trailer no customer service the dealer can only do so much... thank you happy trails

no i got a letter from them.. it is the late 03 through 05 models i believe... the dealer has coated it with a (rubber type coating) called geo bond.. they are not giving any warrenty other than what you already had when you bought the trailer..the geo bond you can google it and look it up...its all a matter is the geo bond going to stick and do its job or not..its a well built trailer but if there is a roof material problem which this is than give extra warrenty or replace the roof panels..my trailer is in warrenty right now from when it was purchased in 05.. this is a material defect made by a company called newcourt.. the roof panels are not holding up to the suns uv rays the panels are seperating between layers...good luck to all with these trailers...

Same story here. My trailer had yet to haul a horse when it came apart. Answer from Cimarron was tow it to OK, and pay them almost $2,000 to fix it. A trailer built in '05 I believe. Sounded like hogwash to me. A trailer with pretty welds, cool looking sides, but no roof whatsoever! Cimarron buyers beware. I had a local trailer shop coat mine, then put a regular aluminum roof on top of it. Works great now- no leaks!

Well, that's just hogwash. I have several friends with Cimarrons and many of them had the reported roof problems. Not only did Cimarron pay the freight to OK to have the roofs repaired the also covered any damage to the LQ as a result of the roof problems. Cimarron has been nothing but more than fair with this problem and has stood behind their product.

dfree, i did let the dealership do the roof sealant. i looked up the geo bond information and it has a 30 yr warrenty so i think it should be decent... but it is still a coating of some sort and a coating is not as good as a roof panel built right the first time with the right material..(my opionion) i am thinking about trading it and getting another brand for sure will not buy another cimmaron again (my opionion) the dealer that sells them around here i like and delt with alot of yrs but a dealer can only do so much... if they would of worked with me a little at cimmaron i would of considered another one but not now...if we dont trade we are for sure going to have a carport put in which is 2500.00 that should not have to consider in the first place to help protect the roof which i feel will help alot..i have thought about talking to a lawyer to see if anything could be done... its just a huge mess... alot of people are probably happy that they are throwing a sealent on the roof panels for the sun uv rays but i think it should of been replaced or a warrenty from the factory for bad materials... good luck

We are a Cimarron dealership located in southern California. We have repaired a few of these roofs under warranty, including a couple of trailers that were purchased at other dealerships, paid for by Newcourt. You should be able to get your "recalled" roof repaired at any Cimarron dealership that has a service department. If you purchased a trailer second hand, it has no warranty. This is true for any brand of trailer unless you paid for a transferable warranty. It really isn't fair to blame Cimarron, since they were sold the defective material to begin with. It is the roof manufacturer's warranty, which is Newcourt.

I have a 2004 CM Norstar, purchased in 05. Now I am concerned, even though my trailer is kept under cover. I never received any recall info. Do I contact my dealer or Cimmeron? Does anyone have contact info for Cimmeron, an 1-800 number? Who do I speak to there? What does the roof look like when problems exist?

Cimmaron's issue was with 03-05 models. In 06 they changed to the same supplier that Hart uses on their roof. As far as I know, there has never been any issues with a Hart roof.

Looking at buying an '04. Do we know if all 03-05s are having problems, or just some?

I think it is very fair to blame the trailer manufacturer.
Cimmeron chose the supplier of the material and components for their roofs. They, not the consumers, should bear the cost of this decision. Cimmeron is the party that holds itself out as an expert in making trailers. This includes the selection of the components and materials that go into the trailer.
In turn, Cimmeron should look to whoever supplied them with the faulty products incorporated into the trailer. If the supplier is bankrupt, again, Cimmeron selected this supplier, not the trailer buyer.
I will be looking to buy a used trailer in the near future. This is one brand that has been crossed off my list.

I know this was posted several years ago, but I'm having issues with my 05 Cimmaron! Where did you get your roof replaced and how much did it cost? Thanks!
