I haven't scraped the dually on anything yet.Too much payment every mo,so,I'm extra cautious.And I can back it up to a hitch,GN or BP,better,too.I don't get in a hurry like the husband does.

Damn, drooled on my keyboard again....Very nice. And it still looks like a truck. Albiet on supplements, but still a truck.
Man, my Dodge rides like crap....how bad could these be?

I had a 2003 Dodge 1500 and now have a 2002 Dodge 2500. The only differences I have seen is the 2500 can run up hills and gets better fuel milage while towing. Empty the 1500 got better mileage. The tow rating on the 2500 is LESS than I had on the 1500 by 500lbs.
The only stopping problems I have had with either truck (aside from going through the mtns with the 1/2 ton) was while I was moving from S. Tx to NM. I was driving through San Antonio some idiot decided to pull over in front of me and almost stopped when he got to his exit to get off of I10. Fortunately when I laid on the horn he decided it would be better to go over the curb than to have me run him over. There was no way I could stop 13,000lbs in 30 feet.

We need to find an easy conversion to swap out our electric truck horns to a loud air horn system. Then when these people stop in front of us, they can be warned that it might not be in their best interest to stay there. With so many people on cell phones and distracted by every event other than driving, it's a miracle that more accidents haven't happened to us.

I'm usually the one that reaches over to blow the horn.My husband won't even sound the regular horn at folks like described.I guess I could have the air horn installed on MY side of the truck.Would just love it.Love scaring the daylights out of some goober and seeing them run up over a curb for cutting in front of us then stopping.Idiots.

I visited the horn link in TX you supplied, and found most of the products were applicable for trains and cruise ships. The compressors look like what I use on my nail guns. You said you had one on your pickup; which model? How large a compressor does it require? Do you need a stand alone electrical power source?

I know I'm a little late to this discussion... but if you're still looking for opinions here's mine (based on similar experience):
Advantage of 3/4 over 1/2: I used to drive a 78 Chevy half ton in high school. The suspension was way stiffer than my last pickup (an 03 silverado ext cab short box Z71). The Z71 suspension was supposed to be a little stiffer than the standard 03 suspension but it rode like a car even when empty.
However, it did pull my 97 Logan Wrangler 3h bumper pull trailer just fine. The EZ lift WD system helped distribute the load just fine. I was well within the weight rating limits and never had a problem stopping with the electic brakes. The 5.3L motor and the 3.73 gears provided plenty of power.
I traded up to a Dodge 2500HD 6.7L Cummins Quad cab short box because the pickup was too light in the suspension dept. for me. I don't use my pickup as a daily driver and use it almost exclusively for towing and hauling. If I wanted something to pull my trailer and be a daily driver I might have considered another 1/2 ton.
But, for me, the decision still would have been the 3/4 ton because I like the ride better. It's just personal preference. I think the braking issue is moot if you're properly set up with a good brake system. I think the suspension issue is moot if you have a the proper WD system and you are well under weight ratings. Of course the bigger, more powerful pickup is going to tow better. But is that what you need? It depends on what else you are doing with your pickup and how heavy you will be loading it... AND what will your future trailer set up be (are you planning to upgrade in the next few years?)... The right answer can be either one. IMHO.
