Does anyone have an opinion on Sidekick trailers?  I am looking at one and was wondering what other people have to say.  This one has living quarters.  Thanks

We have had one for several years; a three horse, 13' LQ with mid tack. It's built exceptionally well with no structural issues. It has a fully lined and insulated stall area, plank flooring system, sturdy hardware, rigid and strong doors.

Ours has a complete Showtime interior, I've seen other trailers with different brands of interiors. The roof is made of a one piece double walled beam fiberglass structure. You can walk on it like a sidewalk with no flexation.

If there is a situation, I'm hesitant to call it a problem, it would be with the roof. Where it connects to the sidewalls, are attached curved aluminum transition pieces. Aluminum and fiberglass have different coefficients of expansion, and if the caulking is not maintained, the roof will leak at these joints. Most any trailer with a LQ needs proper caulking maintenance, and a Sidekick is no exception.

We have had no issues with it at all. In fact its excellent brakes and tracking, literally save my family's lives last year, when we jackknifed twice at 65 mph. It twice pulled our truck back upright, when the front tires had tucked under when we slid sideways, and we were on the verge of rolling over.

We consider our Sidekick to be a life time investment and enjoy it more with every usage. I highly recommend this brand.

If you do a search, you will find some limited threads about this make of trailer. It is not wildly sold or known about.

I thought Sidekick was no longer in business.  In fact I thought it was going on two years that they had ceased operations.

You may be thinking of "Silver Star".

Sidekick relocated from Florida to Kansas in 2006.  Now that I think about it, the newest Sidekick I heve seen is a 2005? model...... Maybe they have shut down, website hasn't had alot of attention.

They are still building glass racks and little Fire Trucks...

They are still building trailers.  Sidekick was purchased by Unruh Fab.  Who also manufactures fire trucks and other items.  We have toured their plant and the trailers are being built better then ever.  I definately recommend their trailer.  You will want to speak to Monte to order or inquire about one.
