I purchased a new bison in November, now Bison/Monaco Coach have filed Chapter 11.  Bison has been telling me be patient with my warranty issues I want taken care of, now he tells me that the new buyer of bison with teh chapter 11 will take on things from the day of purchase fprward and not have to honor previous, I have a $60,000.00 trailer and they are going to tell me I am out of luck, I DON'T THINK SO!  What should I do now, wait till the sale is finalized and then contact Bison management again?  Someone is going to cover this and it's not going to be me.  I love the Bison trailer, it's my second one but hell hath no fury then a horse woman scorned about her horse trailer I tell ya.

Sorry your a little late to this forum. Back in November we knew that Bison was in trouble and chapter 11 or 7 were possible.  I think by law you have little if any recourse. If your warranty is with a supplier to Bison you may have a leg to stand on I.E. Air, awning, axle, refer. ect.ect.

Audkay....just sent you a pm.

below is copied from the Horse Trailer News board on this site

"I want to re-assure everyone that Bison is one of the most viable horse trailer manufacturers in the world.  They own around 25% of the US market in LQ sales, and were the most profitable entity owned by Monaco for the last few years.

They just happen to belong to an outfit that got caught up in the RV recession, and are thus temporarily bogged down until this clears up.  We think that will happen this month at the latest.

In the meantime, I promise that every one of my customers will be, and are being, taken care of on any and all needed warranty.  Bison is, temporarily, limited as to their actions re warranty, because of the re-organization of Monaco, but the dealers are not!  I'll be glad to entertain any and all questions @

Thanks!

You could buy an aftermarket "Service Plan" which may provide better coverage than the original warranty, anyway.

Many finance companies can direct you.

I second the opinion that you try and work through your dealer.

You didn't say what kind of warranty probems you have or whether you have already contacted the dealer.

The one or two smal problems I had with my Logan when it was new, the dealer took care of and I'm not sure he ever contacted the manufacture of the trailer. You may want to work with him.  In the interest of good will and your continued business, the dealer my take care of some issues. That would be a great boost to his reputation that he stepped up and stood behind a product, even if the maker went bankrupt.

Sorry to hear that you are are having the problems that you have. Unfortunately problems like this are only growing due to the number of manufactures that are going into bankruptcy or out of business completely. Bankruptcy laws are written and enforced in favor of the filer. It's unfortunate for people and/or companies on the other side of the filer because they are the ones that lose out. When bankruptcy is filed it in essence discharges any and all liabilities that the filer currently has and leaves no recourse for anyone. On the positive side, bankruptcy does not discharge the obligation(s) of the vendors that supplied either parts or materials used to build your unit. So if you're having problems say with your generator, the generator manufacture is still obligated to make the nessassary corrections. If you have structural issuies thats due to inadequate materials, the material manufacture / supplier is still obligated to cover any expenses required to make the nessassary corrections. The only time you really have a problem is if your warranty issue is due to inadequate workmanship. In this case you should try to a dealer that still has left over inventory from the bankrupt manufacture. I think they would be more then willing to help you out as long as it's not going to be a considerable expense to them. Good Luck.........................
