I am tire shopping and having a hard time locating american made tires for my LQ trailer. So far only 1 dealer can order me Goodyear Marathons in 235 85 R16 Load range E. Are there any other USA made tires to pick from in this size and Load? I remember reading awhile back about the Marathon recall, but can't remember why???

After going through two sets of "ST" Trailer tires in that many years I switched to LT truck tires. Been almost a year and the tires still look new. I doubt I will every buy a trailer tire again.

Any of the American made "LT" light truck tires should work just fine.... BF Goodrich commercial T/A, Uniroyal Laredo HD/H. The Goodyear Unisteel G614RST is a 14 ply trailer tire rated at 3750#. Michelin XPS Rib, Several from Firestone, Bridgestone, etc.

Thanks Retento and others. I ordered the BF Goodrich Commercial T/As. Should be mounted on the trailer today. Goodbye Trash (Trail) America tires... luckily I didn't have any issues, I knew I was living on the edge with those cruddy tires. Glad to have American tires on my American Made Trailer.

What is the difference between truck and trailer tires? Are the truck tires "better" and can truck tires be used on any trailer? I hope this question has not already been answered, but if so, maybe someone can put a link to the thread in so I can read up on it. Thanks.

It's OK to use truck "LT" tires on a trailer, but you shouldn't use trailer "ST" tires on a truck.... These "ST" tires are also speed rated at 65 mph, (Goodyear G614RST's are rated at 75 mph) another reason you hear alot about them blowing out (besides most of them being old and dry rotten and made in a foreign land).... Folks got them loaded heavy driving too fast. Maybe this article will help you understand the difference.

Is the 235 85 R16 the standard trailer tire for horse trailers from the manufacturer?
It is on most of the heavier trailers, in a load range D and E. The Goodyear G614RST comes in a load range G only. Most of the smaller trailers use a 205-235-75R15 in a load range C and D. Some of the BIG, LQ trailer will have the 215-75R17.5 load range G and H tires on two and three axles.... There are alot of 235-85R16 LT tires available.
Where does one get their horse trailer tires aligned and balanced? Can a Les Schwab do it?
We don't have any Les Schwab stores in our area, but from what I've read they should be able to take care of you... Whether it be tires, alignment, balance, rotation, best prices, etc.
