I posted this question awhile back, but didn't have all of the specs and I don't think I got an answer. Can a 2010 Tundra safely pull a gooseneck with a small LQ. I am not looking for a "luxury liner", but a small 4' - 8' basic model with a small bathroom. I have a 2010 Tundra 5.7L heavy half ton with a tow package that includes tow/haul mode (slows auto shift; holds truck in gear a little longer before allowing it to shift) It has a 4.30 rear axle ratio (is that how you put it?) and it's tow limit is 10,100 lbs. The tow package comes with heavier springs and something about the transmission is different; heavier maybe? different cooling system, maybe? I am looking for a good quality, USED (elite, 4-star, cimmarron, maybe cherokee or older sooner/featherlite) goose neck with small LQ.. I would prefer a 2-horse, but they are hard to find with all of the features that i want., so if I can safely haul (and STOP) a 3-horse, I may go to it.. I prefer aluminum, but Double D's Buffalo series has pretty much all that i want and is supposed to be zinc-coated steele that they claim does not rust and weighs comparable to aluminum. living on the south TX coast, i am not comfortable with a straight steele trailer. I have been looking at diesel trucks, but if I can safely do the job with what i have, i'd rather not switch.... my mileage sux tho.. I get @ 8 mpg towing a 3500lb BP 2-h with only one 900 lb mare inside.. Rarely do I ever haul 2 at the time.. What do you guys think?

I have a 3H GN trailer with a weekender 4' LQ. The  trailer weighs ~5500# empty, about 9000# fully loaded. With a load, the pin weight is over one ton.

I don't think the Tundra can safetly carry the weight of a LQ trailer. My same trailer in a 2H without a LQ is 4400#. One extra horse stall adds ~300# of weight. You may be able to pull the trailer, but carrying the load may exceed your truck's capacity.

Have a couple of friends with them, and they love them. Similar towing to what you've described. They say that when they bought, the Tundra towing was rated heavier than the base 3/4 ton GM product.

I always thought some of these ratings seemed arbitrary. Now they've almost admitted it. Interesting link Paul, thanks.
