The jack is installed on a 2005 Sterling Coach trailer. The jack is creeping down about 6" and stops. Has anyone performed any repairs or services to this jack? I found Lunde Lift went out of business in 2006. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Justgum,

I have the same issue with a similiar Lund Unit...the jack doesn't hold.  What/where are "poppets"?

Disclaimer!! I'm not a technical expert in this field. Please consider ALL SAFETY aspects before performing this work.

Lift the trailer and position jack stands under trailer to support the trailer weight. Once the trailer is supported run the jack completely up. Remove the 7/8” cap nut then remove the spring and poppet. "see attachment yellow arrows" Clean the poppet with brake/parts cleaner. Don’t wipe with rag let air dry. Inspect contact surface of poppet for cracks the seat is a step seat. If you observe cracks it will need replaced. The spring only provides alignment. Don't stretch it.

To change the oil, in order to remove the reservoir remove the four Phillips screws and lower the reservoir. There are pickup tubes going down into the tank. Empty and clean the reservoir and refill. Use Dextron 3 ATF I recall it took 2 quarts.

Reverse to put bak together.

Good Luck!

MANY Thanks!  Much appreciated.  I'm not particularly mechanically inclined, but will give it a shot.  Seems pretty straight forward.

Thanks again.

You will be fine it is pretty easy. Just make sure you support the trailer before removing the 7/8" cap. The trailer will drop to the ground. You may need to use a small pen maganet to pull the poppet out.

HAY!  Thanks for the magnet tip.  I've got the cribbing hauled over to the trailer.  I'll be after it in the morning.  I'll letcha know how it goes.

Thanks again.

Ted

I'm safe.

Rained all day here, plus the wife had a garage sale going on.......tomorrow the farrier's coming in the morning, and a neighbor for wood in the afternoon, PLUS the garage sale.

Look's like Sunday.
