If I understand correct your trailer has electric/hydraulic brakes and the truck has an integrated controller. Some of the new technology controllers have to see the harmonics created by the magnetic load from the electric brakes. The e/h brakes do not create it. Thus the controller doesn't work. To resolve the issue connect a couple of old brake magnets to the power wire going to the e/h unit. I did this with my last truck. I got my used magnets from the local trailer sales/repair.

some of this depends on what year the Dodge is, on the newer ones you can go into the menu for the controller and tell it what kind of brakes you have and also heavy or light load. I leave mine on heavy all the time and just turn the controller down with a small trailer.
