Hello all,

We bought a 2015 Exiss Escape 8ftLQ, 3H trailer three months ago brand new. This is a $40,000 piece of equipment.

There are minor workmanship issues that we noticed immediately - missing screw in the horse stalls, the screen not installed very carefully on the LQ door. We chalked it up to one of those things.

Then one of the LQ windows started to "catch" when opened and closed and it finally broke.

After that one of the tires started losing pressure and two tire shops cannot figure out what is wrong with it.

Then the water tank started leaking while being driven full - we would go for a 2 hr trip to camp and start with a full tank only to get to destination with 1/3 full.

However, the first big rains came in Texas and we have multiple water leaks in the living area! One is through the LQ door, another under the fridge. It has caused warping of trim and partition between bathroom and living area and has also caused damage underneath the couch (the LQ has a bed area and a couch).

We also noticed that the light above LQ door is half full of rain.

Then we started looking more carefully and the area where the water heater lives has a 5 inch space where the floor is so warped that you can see the shavings coming in from the horse area that is on the other side of that wall.

By this point I have a 3 month old trailer that will need the fridge taken out, couch taken out, heater taken out, new window, new door etc. etc. The Exiss/Sierra people are telling me to take it to an RV place of choice for repairs under warranty. However, at this point I am thinking this is a lemon and I have lost all confidence in this particular piece of equipment. I mean, s*it, we are talking $40K here, it's not like I pick the money off the money trees in my backyard!

In addition, the repairs will probably take who knows how long at an RV place. Winter is coming and TX is a destination for a lot of RV folks coming down for the winter - I am seeing tons of RVs on the roads everywhere and I am presuming the repair places are chock full. We had big plans for the next three-four months to go camping with our horses, that's why we purchased the damn trailer.

Does anyone have any experience dealing with these issues? What I would like is a brand new replacement trailer or my money back - I have simply lost confidence in the trailer sitting in front of my house nor do I have confidence in it being properly repaired by some RV place around here that I don't know....

Thanks!

Get your insurance adjuster out to see the problems immediately...video everything...you may end up having to contact an attorney depending on what the dealership/manufacurers decide to do or not do...

Did either of the tire shops pull the wheel/tire unit and stick it in the water tank?

Have you tried calling the Exiss OKC number? Will they trade out this dud trailer for a new one? What dealer did you buy from, it's their job to help you in this matter. Time to get an attorney involved, the sooner the better. I personally wouldn't go back to the same brand but it's your money. Why won't you trust a local RV repair place, if to just get an estimate of damages? You'll most likely need this to force a buy back.

Your situation pretty much sums up our suspicion about the workmanship and structure....

Well, I have no dog in this fight, but watched a similar incident a few years ago and realized you can get catch more flies with honey than a lawyer. I heard a trailer manufacturer state upfront that once a lawyer gets involved they allow the legal process to play out, which can take years. And during that time you are stuck with no usable trailer.

I'd suggest getting with your dealer first, and a phone call to Exiss at the same time. Your trailer has a warranty, give them a chance to fix it. If you just truly don't want it, then fix it and sell it. My understanding is that in most (if not all) states there's no requirement for them to buy it back. Lemon laws in states that have them usually require three distinct trips to the shop for the same problem. From what you've described it isn't to that point yet.

Just my opinion.

I agree. I'm a dealer (Platinum, not Exiss). My advice is bypass the RV shops and bring it right up to Sierra and let them water test it and fix it there. It won't take as long and you'll get better service. Than I agree to sell it and buy a higher quality trailer and LQ...Exiss is entry level, and it still shouldn't have issues, but we all know how that really goes. No manufacturer or LQ shop is perfect, but I always say I'd rather own a 1995 4 Star than a 2015 Exiss...just sayin...

take it back to your dealer. And write down who you talk to at exiss. DO NOT take it to an rv shop until they have told you to.

We own a 2005 Event with a Sierra interior and except for one leak around the shower skylight and a repair here and there over 10 years which isn't too out of the ordinary as trailers go, we like ours. We bought what we could afford to buy and I guess we must have gotten lucky based on the posts.I would go through the dealer and Sierra first.

Agree. I have a 2003 Exiss Event and I have had leaks but nothing major. The structure of the trailer has been great. No issues there. Yes I would take it back to the dealer. Seems they just don't build them like they use to.

Ugh. I'm so sorry you're having trouble with your trailer. I had similar experiences with a new Lakota. It never stopped leaking (even when they took it back to the factory to "fix" it)Lakota was good to work with and fixed the multitude of other issues but finally I gave up and traded it in for a Hart.

Just my opinion but I'd never buy another Lakota. They have very fancy conversion pkgs. but the horse part is poorly built. No comparison to the Hart's. sent you a pm..

We got a 2014 Lakota Charger 8311 3 horse LQ w/slide in Nov. last year and Love it. We had a few issues in the beginning but AJ in customer service was great to deal with and took care of everything promptly.Even threw in a few extras for our trouble. In my opinion trailer is very well built, interior is very nice and they will build it pretty much any way you want it.It is very sturdy and pulls much better than our 2002 Sundowner 3 horse LG ever did. Some trips the trailer was loaded with 12 bales of hay, feed, tack, food, water, horses, etc. and it pulled great. We were "dry" camping ( no hook ups) from April to end of Oct. almost every weekend with some week-long trips all over MA,VT,RI,NY,NH,and PA on highways ,dirt roads, mountains, fields, campgrounds with no problems and loved the room and performance of the trailer. Four couples we ride all the time with bought Lakota's around the same time and all love them as well. We would definitely buy another but don't think we will need to for along time.

When you search put in "Lakota tire" and search out 1 year and you'll find what you need.

We have a 2011 Exiss 8314 Sierra interior that we bought used in 2012, we replaced a 2004 Sooner LQ (it was the last year before Universal). We have had no issues to date, if maintained properly it appears to be able to provide years of enjoyment, however in our constant pursuit of creature comforts and safety concerns I will always question why these large LQs insist on 7k axles as a stock option. Our next rig (always a next rig :) ) will have nothing less than 8k axles, and fully extruded sides front to back for added structural support. And that next rig could very well be another Exiss.

Could I impose upon anybody here to to possibly send me a schematic or photo of the fuses on your Sierra LQ (8 foot on Exiss Sport)? I believe I have a couple of incorrect sizes. Would really appreciate it. Or a number to call & get it?

I realize this is an older post, but have a question on the trailer design-OP states "where the water heater lives has a 5 inch space where the floor is so warped that you can see the shavings coming in from the horse area". Never seen the water heater on the slant wall. To me, that would cause concerns and safety concerns on LQ design. Interesting.

My 2 cents.... The OP never returned. Basically dropped a bomb and ran. Lets ask ourselves. how would aluminum floors warp? I find the entire OP to be very fictional. JMHO
