I have a 2001 Sundowner Sierra 8012 3h with 10 ft LQ. The power from the 2 mounted batters will not power anything but the electric jack...with a ford 350 I have to have it running to get 12v power for my lights or connect to 110v. Should the 2 batters on the trailer power the 12v lights? I was told by a dealer that Sundowner only lets the batteries power the jack...Thanks for any help.

Is there a site to get the wiring schematics?

every LQ I have ever been around the batterys is what runs all the 12 volt in the trailer, do you have a disconnect switch, if so turn it on, in the off position the converter will not charge the battery when you are connected to shore power.

Check the circuit breaker between the batteries and the LQ. It is a small rectangular device near the battery. Put a 12v test light on each stud and ground and make sure that the light goes on at both terminals.

The electric jack is supplied by a separate heavy electrical circuit that is particular to only the jack. The trailer's and LQ circuits will be breaker or fuse protected individually. The converter usually has a polarity protection, which will protect the devise from inadvertent problems, such as when batteries are installed. This may be use a separate fuse. A master switch is usually employed in the circuit or a main breaker may be installed in the box. Any one of these devises can shut down the feed from your batteries to the LQ, which is designed to run with the batteries' power.
