I've been using 2 Honda EU 2000 generators hooked together to run the AC and anything else. This past weekend was in the mid 90's.. I had the generators running for no more than an hr. in the hottest part of the day, and both of them shut off pretty much at the same time. I couldn't get them restarted for another 5 hrs. then they both started no problem. Could they have become overheated with this weather?I love these little Honda's b/c they're (usually) very dependable and are easy to tote around. my trailer's wired for an Onan. I'm considering getting one if I can come up w/ the $$. Are they really that much better? do they do well in extreme heat? would a 4000 or 5000 run everything in the trailer? Since the trailer is pre wired would I just place one in there and hook it up or is there something else that has to be done? Thanks for your help!

Biult in are always nicer but I have a question about your Honda's.Did you have the fuel vent open on the Honda's fuel caps? I forgot to do that once and both died at the same time.

Take it to an RV service center... you may also want to consider Generac. We have had one in our trailer for several years. It never let us down, and was a little less expensive, and more reliable than our experience with Onan.

sounds to me that they did over heat for some reason, where do you put them while they are in use? they do need air flow of some sort, we have a generac that replaced an Onan on top of our trailer and never have a problem with it, we also have another small trailer and it has an airconditioner in the tack room and we run it off of a honda 3000 that is in the truck tool box but I have a small fan mounted there also and it has never shut down from heat. My guess is one of yours shut down and the overload that was put on the other caused it to stop also, what would bother me more is having to wait so long for a restart.

Onan is top of the crop. None better.4000 will run your trailer. 5000 will run your trailer and your neighbors trailer.

This is what you need to haul behind your horse trailer for those power needs...

For years I used a Honda EU3000i and loved it. Very quiet and powered almost everything I needed. But it was heavy to tote around and somewhat of a pain for me by myself. Our new (to us) trailer has a on-board Onan gas generator and it runs fabulous. So spoiled just hitting the button and it runs until I shut it off. And yes, in the heat too!

The major downfall for me with my Honda generator (3000)is that it is not weatherproof! NOT FUN getting up at 3:30 in the morning, in a driving thunderstorm because the generator quit running... ughhh. Onboard ONAN all the way for this gal!
